UB88 Photographs
from the Journal of
Charles D. Turner

The following photographs are from the journal of Charles D. Turner, Electrician First Class. Charles served aboard UB88 during the Liberty Loan cruise of the United States in 1919. He was honorably discharged from the United States Navy on 18 June 1920 at San Pedro, CA. His daughter, Sue Turner Chapman, gratiously granted us permission to display her father’s photographs here on this page. When I spoke with her she thought the journal would probably be forgotten after she donated it to the Library of Congress. She was thrilled to know that it was finally published and that her father’s memory will live on.

You can see the complete journal of Charles D. Turner at the Veterans History Project, Library of Congress.
